What you need to know about spill kits?

If an oil spillage occurs in your industrial setting then you need to make sure that you clean it up as soon as possible. To do this you need a spill kit which has oil absorbents such as socks, pillows and pads. These absorbents can easily soak up the oil quickly. If you are planning to buy a spill kit then you need to know that there are several types of kits available.

Here are some of tips which will help you to select a spill kit:

First of all, you need to know what type of liquid usually spills at your working site. If the substance contains hydrocarbons such as jet fuel, gasoline or motor oil then you need to go for general oil absorbents. Some of the absorbents are specifically designed in such a way they only absorb oil, a specific chemical or another type of fluid.

If you have a look online you will find that there are three types of spill kits.

• The first one is known as a universal kit which helps to absorb all kinds of liquids. This type of kit can absorb oil and water.

• An only oil spill kit is another type which means that it only absorbs oil and hence repels water.

• The Hazmat spill kit is the third type which can absorb water based liquids, strong acidic solvents and also hydrocarbons.

You also need to know that these kits also come with safety accessories such as gloves which can help to protect your hands and goggles to protect your eyes.
